Our Mission

Street Roots creates income opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and poverty by producing a newspaper and other media that are catalysts for individual and social change.

Rachel Langford

Rachel has a background in community organizing and advocacy on housing, health and education issues. Currently, she is the Associate Director of Education Systems Alignment for Home Forward, where she provides leadership, policy and program development  focused on supporting the success of children and parents in Home Forward housing programs. 

Brad Taylor

Brad is a mental health outreach worker with the City of Portland Oregon. Previously, he worked with JOIN, a social services and homeless outreach organization.

Alison Hallett

Before transitioning to the nonprofit world, Alison spent a decade working in journalism as a writer and editor, including a five-year stint as Arts Editor of the Portland Mercury. She's currently the Director of Marketing & Community Engagement at Portland's Hollywood Theatre.

Dan Jones

Dan is an Account Director for Portland-based digital agency AKQA. Dan is originally from Bristol, England but moved to Portland in 2013 after several years in London. A graduate in Politics and Philosophy from Cardiff University, Dan looked destined for a career in journalsm after stints at the Guardian newspaper as well as editing various industry magazines before taking the opportunity to work at AKQA.

Sandra Hahn

A longtime Portlander by way of Louisiana, Sandra has been a Street Roots vendor since 2014 and Board member since 2016. Before coming to Street Roots, Sandra owned a home healthcare agency.

John Brown

John is a vendor in SW Portland at the Food Front Food Cooperative. He was named Vendor of the Year in 2015. A native of Michigan, John is a sports and theater fan.

Heather Stadick

Heather is the owner/operator of Keystone Bookkeeping, providing bookkeeping and financial systems expertise. She has served on the Street Roots board for nearly fifteen years and brings a wealth of financial knowledge.
