April Fools Edition: Trail Blazers donate eyewear to Portland's needy
by Street Roots | 11 Apr 2011

A poor, desperate man tries on his first pair of “three goggles,” courtesy of the Portland Trail Blazers “Make it Better” Foundation.

The foundation is donating 10,000 pairs of three goggles to several area high schools, and local nonprofits who work with youths and elders with vision problems. After developing a new technique (and fashion) in eyewear for athletes  — the Trail Blazers say it’s their duty to pass on the new goggles to individuals and families around the region who don’t have access to proper eyewear.

Note: SR writes a satirical edition of the paper each April 1.
