Each year, more than 800 vendors rely on Street Roots to provide them with a steady source of income. Your generosity makes this and so much more possible. It fuels our powerful, investigative journalism informing and inspiring our community.
Here are five impactful ways you can support Street Roots this season.
Buy the newspaper and this year’s holiday zine
Support Street Roots’ vendors this holiday season by purchasing both the weekly newspaper and a unique, vendor-created zine, available now. The publication of Street Roots’ annual holiday zine is an artistic, collaborative project belonging to our vendors. The publication features vendor poetry, prose and artwork. This year’s theme is My Beautiful Neighbor. These limited-edition zines make great holiday gifts, and if your vendor contributed, they might even sign your copy!
Throw in a little extra when you can
Tips help vendors immensely. Remember, every dollar you give goes directly into your vendor’s pocket. The addition of the zine provides vendors with an extra income opportunity through the holiday season. Like the newspaper, which vendors purchase for a quarter and sell for $1, the zine creates a chance for extra profits: vendors buy the zine for $1 and sell it to you for $4. For $5, you can bundle a paper with a zine! Don’t carry cash? Remember Venmo is always an option, too. Venmo @StreetRoots and include your vendor’s name and badge number in the comment section.
Double your impact with NewsMatch
Your support can make a difference if you value Street Roots’ independent newsroom, which digs into important local issues. From Dec. 1-10, Street Roots is participating in NewsMatch, a campaign that supports our journalism and newsroom. During this time, NewsMatch will double your donation to Street Roots, up to $15,000. The first $3,000 raised will be matched twice.
